The focus of the 2015 Regional Meetings will be on the SAA Legislative Agenda emphasizing the Evidence-Based Education Policy Agenda and the Local Advocacy Model of Engagement. The meeting will center on the development of the local district leadership team’s capacity to engage in meaningful advocacy efforts that will change the conversation about public education in Wisconsin and promote public support for the development of evidence-based education policy. Superintendents are encouraged to bring members of your Leadership Team (e.g. District Office Administrators, Principals, Designated Teacher or Parent Leaders, or Board Member) who might be actively engaged at the local level in team designed advocacy efforts.  There are no limitations on the number of team members you bring – but please bring them! The objective of the Regional Meetings is for all participants to:

  1. Have a clear understanding of what advocacy entails on a broader scale (SAA level) as well as in their local community.
  2. Understand the importance and impact that they – as a team – can have when working together at the local level.
  3. Learn skills and processes to enhance their advocacy efforts to more effectively work with their key stakeholder groups which likely include local media, local and state legislators, their colleagues within the District, business leaders, and members of the community.
  4. Create a plan for how they wish to proceed during the next year.
  5. Leave energized and clear on how they will advocate for public education in their community.
