Listening session goal and structure
The goal of this listening session is to learn from you and other educational experts, to inform and guide our development of a comprehensive state implementation plan for the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA), which DPI will be developing over the coming year. The listening session will be a combination of brief presentations by Department of Public Instruction (DPI) staff to provide important contextual information, followed by small group discussions around specific questions. This structure is intended to queue up structured conversations that will result in needed feedback for DPI as we embark upon more detailed state planning for ESSA.
Is there anything I should do to prepare?
First, know that you do not need to be an expert on ESSA, school accountability, or Title I supports and interventions (though many of you are!). DPI will provide relevant contextual information at the session. In the meantime, we have prepared some brief materials for your reference. If you have a moment to review, the following documents are relevant to our discussion on 9/14:
Thank you in advance for your participation!
Jonas Zuckerman - Director, Title I
Laura Pinsonneault - Director, Office of Educational Accountability
