Now more than ever, superintendents are called to provide stewardship to their district and, by extension, their community at large. Economic, social and political tensions challenge the public schools ability to meet its aspirations for all children. The superintendent is called upon, indeed expected, to help navigate this environment in a way that advances the purposes of public education and allows it to fulfill its value to citizens. WASDA’s Fall Regional Meeting is designed to assist you in your unique stewardship role.

  • Hear directly from WASDA’s SAA Government Relations Director regarding the priorities and strategies for the upcoming budget process. Provide input into the legislative action items effecting public schools in the new legislative session.
  • Access extended time with legal counsel to provide guidance in current issues of transgender accommodation, labor practices including hiring, compensation and benefits as well as pending policy changes through IRS that will impact public school employees. You will have time to address your critical questions relevant to your own circumstances.
  • Learn how to be proactive in demonstrating the value of public schools to your community. Communicate the value of the schools to the local quality of life including the economic, social and civic wellbeing. The Business of Education model presents concepts and structures that shape a performance outcome message to the public that they can related to and support.
  • Finally, hear from an important new WASDA partner. The WREA is a membership association representing nearly 15,000 retired educators including superintendents. The WREA is poised to help you in your professional advocacy role locally and support you personally through valuable benefits while you are actively employed.

These are critical leadership areas that everyone is confronted with on a daily basis. Come learn strategies from thoughtful leaders and share best practices with your colleagues.
