Sample 100-Day Transition Plans

Making Your First 100 Days Count!

Performance in the first 100 days in a new position is critical.   The first 100 days are the opportunity to establish your identity, build relationships, analyze student achievement and financial status, understand community expectations and values, and set measurable goals.  Actions by the leader in the first three months form the foundation upon which all future work rests.  A solid foundation promotes future accomplishments.  A weak foundation derails progress.

Executive leaders build 100 Day Plans to map out the activities/tactics to be prioritized, maintain focus despite diversions, provide benchmarks to measure progress, and communicate accountability to the  board and community. 100-Day Plans are not just for leaders new to the position.  100-Day Plans also greatly assist experienced leaders to transition to new districts.  For this reason, WASDA is pleased to provide multiple examples of 100-Day Plans to support superintendents in new positions as well as those interviewing for/planning transitions.

Four Wisconsin Superintendents who made recent position transitions have generously agreed to allow WASDA to post their 100-Day Transition and/or Monitoring Plans as resources for the profession. WASDA extends special thanks to Margaret Banker – Montello School District, Paul Mielke – Hamilton School District, Brad Saron – Sun Prairie Area School District, and Diane Tremblay – Barron Area School District for sharing their work for the benefit of WASDA members.
